MeshLab is an open source, portable and extensible program for processing and editing 3D meshes.
The system aims to help the treatment of the typical medium-large shapes of models resulting from 3D scanning. In fact, it provides a set of tools for editing, cleaning, putting back in the pristine, inspection, rendering and conversion of this type of plot.
The system is strongly based on the VCG library developed at ISTI – CNR’s Visual Computing Lab, for all basic mesh processing activities. It is available for Windows, MacOSX and Linux.
The MeshLab system started its existence at the end of 2005 as part of the FGT course of the Department of Informatics of the University of Pisa and most of the code (about 15,000 lines) of the first versions was written by a handful of willing students. After that, FGT students have continued to work on this project to enrich it with more and more functionality.
In addition, this project is actively supported by the 3D-CoForm project.
