The Prusa i3 is one of the most popular 3D printers in the RepRap universe, it has a huge support community, so beginners don’t have to worry.
It’s the progenitor of all printers with this distinctive design.
Definitely a great printer even though there is now an updated version: the brand new MK2 version, which boasts a volume 31% larger, a new HeatBed MK42 print bed, 40% faster print speed, and other key improvements.
Prusa i3: Some considerations
This is a really solid printer. The kit came with everything you need to assemble it. All in an organized package, and an instruction manual with detailed steps to assemble each part. Calibration is simple. Especially if you followed the instructions in the creation process and I had it printed one hour after it was assembled. So far, I’ve only printed in ABS and PLA, so I’ll update the review as I proceed. I printed from 50 microns, and it looked really good. As for print quality, it’s really 100% for the user. There is no factory defect to blame, so you need to configure it well from the start, which fortunately is easy to do. Easier than Lego kits.
