Tevo, a young Chinese company, offers a wide range of printers, far superior to the standards to which the Chinese have accustomed us, like this Tevo Tarantula.
The Tarantula is a Prusa printer, with an all-metal frame, heated plate and to which we can add as an option the double extruder (for multicolour or multi-material prints), the oversized print bed to turn it into a 20x28x20 and the leveling sensor.
Definitely a great product for the price at which it is offered. It can be purchased on Amazon, or on Gearbest with an additional discount.
After years of cravings, monkeys, thoughts and second thoughts, she is my first 3D printer! The final decision I made after watching a video where, after editing, the prints came out better and better with every little upgrade. You’ll tell me, it’s normal, if you upgrade to something you do it to improve it… It’s true but what really struck me was that the upgrades were printed by the printer itself…
I admit that that video was my “ruin” because it triggered in me that something that until then had not been accessed. Because of the video, I didn’t sleep the next two nights, too many ideas were being put in my head about what I could do with a 3D printer. The idea of printing the pieces to make it better exalted me a lot.
Tevo Tarantula Printer
The TevoTarantula printer is one of many copies of the famous Prusa i3. Tevo’s merit is to have created a printer that is quick to assemble and immediately capable of printing in a more than satisfactory way.
Composed of an aluminium frame, it has X and Y axes that slide on rubber wheels that make it easier to assemble, lower the cost of production and reduce noise during operation..

My advice is to take the basic model of Tevo Tarantula or, at most, the model with the largest plate. The other options can easily be added later.
Tevo Tarantula KIT
The printer, as you will have understood by now, is in KIT format, i.e. completely disassembled and it will be up to you to assemble it.
It will arrive in a box that is well closed. Once opened the box you will find in front of you the real box of the printer characterized by the Tevo Tarantula logo in full view.

The packaging is well cared for and I can say, in almost total safety, that it is really hard that you get a broken piece because of transport. All the pieces are perfectly divided, placed inside the box and protected by rubber.
Another sore point is the assembly instructions, not really valid, but with a mix of instructions and videos of explanations on youtube it will not be a problem to assemble it.
This printer, like all those sold in KIT, is aimed at anyone who wants to do, to get their hands dirty and spend hours looking for the solution to a problem or simply improve the quality of the objects produced.
If, on the other hand, you want a printer that is immediately ready to use, simple to use and immediately available to print, this Tevo is to be excluded.
How is the TevoTarantula?
Let me come to the most important question. How does this Tevo Tarantula print?
Honestly I’m very satisfied with this printer considering the fact that I’m very fussy.
Once I finished assembling and tested, I installed Cura and downloaded a calibration cube. When the printing was finished I measured it hot and the measurements were almost perfect, that is: X:19.96 Y:19.99 and Z:20.02. Once it cooled down the cube had shrunk by about 2%, normal value, reaching the size of X:19.64, Y:19.64 and Z:19.65. All printed with the material in the box according to the specifications suggested. The gift material is certainly not the best, but still allowed me to practice.
The only drawback of the cube were the not-so-perfect corners, which came off badly due to the lack of a fan to cool the PLA.
I remedied by ordering this fan from Amazon.
But there was another problem, that is the shipping time, in fact on Aliexpress all the shopkeepers send with the classic mail that takes about 2 months to get there. For this reason I suggest you to order, in addition to the printer, also several spare parts and parts that you might need. Later I will make a list of what I think is most useful.

First aesthetic print
After printing almost all the upgrades, I decided to create something aesthetically appealing and useful at the same time. Armed with inventiveness and patience, after a couple of days I created this one. It’s nothing more than a cover for the motherboard, but with the possibility to mount also fans with a diameter of 80mm, in addition to those of 40mm. Printed it also makes a good impression (visible in photo n2).
I used lugs for electrical connections, make the connections more stable and safer, and recommend them highly. If you have already mounted the printer, don’t rush to make the change immediately, but don’t wait too long either. (Remember that you need a crimping machine for the cable lugs)
The second component used already in the assembly phase are the M4 washers. I inserted them in almost all the screws of the Tevo Tarantula during the editing as you can see in the videos I made and posted just above.
These washers have the task of making the structure stronger by increasing the contact surface on the acrylic reducing the possibility of breakage of the same.
Tevo Tarantula’s first upgrades: Printed Upgrades

The first pieces I ever printed were the following:

Plus the printer, I would have ordered several things, in order to have everything I need. If you order from Aliexpress, always keep in mind that, except for special things, you will receive everything by regular mail and the delivery needs from 30 to 60 days. For the printer shipped via DHL, within two days will be at home. I would like to point out that once the order has been placed, my printer has been shipped after 17 days.
What can I say that I have not already said about this excellent printer… If you are passionate about computers, computer science and everything that embraces this category, 3D printing can only give you satisfaction. The only thing you need to know is whether you want a printer already mounted and ready to print or “dirty” your hands to mount it and do tests on tests to figure out how to improve it. Once you have understood this, you will surely have in mind the most suitable printer for you.
